Alfonsina and the River is a short story that narrates the lost history of one of the many indigenous women and girls whose voices were silenced. Set in a village in the Bolivian jungle, the story follows the experiences that run through a girl’s mind as she is forced to migrate to a city in the Andean region of Bolivia.
These illustrations were hand-drawn and then digitally refined using Photoshop, from storyboarding to character and background studies. The technique employed includes graphite and ink.
I am particularly passionate about working on projects that reclaim stories from parts of the world where the population is vulnerable and underrepresented.
